Get To Know: Salute The Soldier

An exciting emerging artist this week - let's get to know the almighty Salute The Soldier...

So firstly, how would you describe your sound?

I would describe my sound as a combination of alternative hip-hop with a heavy emphasis on emotional lyricism and rock ‘n’ roll or blues style hooks that are soulful in nature

What’s a typical day in the studio like for you?

My studio is at my house so a typical day in the studio looks like my wife putting headphones to watch TikTok and me stepping up to the computer to scream at the microphone for a couple hours. My favorite part of being in the studio however is the first time you hear the song fully mixed and your project comes to life.

Do you have to be in a certain mood to write a song?

I wouldn’t say that it was a certain mood but I would definitely say that I need to be inspired by something. If I try to force songs it never works out. Also most of the time I have no idea what I’m going to write about until I hear The instrumental. I call myself an instrumental interpreter laughingly but also I feel like I’m their translator haha so it is a combination of life experiences and what the music says to me.

Who are your three biggest musical inspirations?

Lil Wayne, Queen, and JELLY ROLL

Who is the best artist you've ever seen play live?

easy question my cousin is the drummer in the band OneRepublic. He is the most talented person I have ever met by far.

What’s the toughest part of the industry for you?

The toughest part of the industry for me is the constant marketing social media demands. Especially now in the TikTok era. I can’t stand the way that I have to literally become a walking billboard instead of focus on the art.

What’s the most enjoyable part of the industry?

For me the most enjoyable part of the industry always has been and will always be performing live. I love when I finally get a chance to meet my fans and there’s nothing greater than the rush of Adrenaline you get from taking the stage and hearing people singing along to your creations.

What do you have in store for 2022?

I still feel like we are just getting started. The music is getting better and I am starting to hit my stride as a songwriter. I feel like by Christmas a lot more people will now about Salute and the family we are creating. My fans are my soldiers, my family…. This has always been more than just Music. It’s a movement of love based recovery and motivation for anyone who needs it. Salute
