Ethereal & Euphoric: Dejhare Shares New EP

Dejhare (pronounce deɪ-Jhar) is first and foremost a dreamer. She loves the idea of using music as a canvas on which to draw our life stories and on which to share the happiness, the hopes and the frustrations of our shared humanity. We take a close listen to her new EP release 'Plead The Fifth' which dropped July 23rd...

Dejhare's vision is to use her music to reach out to people on a very personal level. In her own words, she believes that "music can unite us; music can heal us; and music can bring hope and a voice to us all. Through music, we can hear the voices of the silent and listen to the stories of the unheard. Because whatever our beliefs and aspirations, we all share common desires – to love and to be loved, to succeed in what we do, and to matter."

This collection of 5 tracks is a real treat for the mind and soul. You will be transported through a unique blend of the ethereal, the otherwordly and the uplifting. Opening track 'Take Five' is about liberation and opening your mind. The pulsating drums and catchy EDM synth riff will have you up and moving, taking five to self-reflect. This is like a form of EDM meditation, and we've never quite heard anything like this mix of semantic message and dance production. Dejhare's voice is at once soothing and powerful, and it will truly take you on a journey.

The second track is 'Skeletons' which is a markedly faster and more energetic track that gives no quarter to people who refuse to take responsibility for their choices and their actions. If the first track opened your mind, this track will drag you on to the dancefloor! It has an awesome half-time pre-chorus, before it erupts into a euphoric chorus. We love the lyrics - “We all have skeletons in our closets” - which act as a call to action, to rise through any kind of self-doubt.

'Perception' has some absolutely beautiful piano, before it slowly erupts into an infectious two-step groove. This is a track that asks us to let go of outdated notions like discrimination and human rights abuses in the face of our fast-paced technological development, and bring the things that really matter to the forefront in our lives. Another wonderfully encouraging and incentivising message wrapped in mesmerising EDM sonic textures.

'Not Alone' according to Dejhare is “a heartfelt dance anthem that empowers those of us who are marginalised and discriminated for whatever reason and encourages us to take flight” while the final and title track 'Plead The Fifth' according to Dejhare is “a warm and encouraging dance track that cheekily suggests that though we may not all be living the life we want, we can take heart in our general collective misadventure, and we are far from irredeemable.“

Beautiful messages, sleek production and a gorgeous voice - this EP is a real treat.
